The answer space was a bit snug,
it was a tough call, but I think I’ve narrowed it down
in no particular order…
TV on the Radio - Young Liars (EP): short and sweet, the essence of them, the grunge, the beautiful darkness, it’s been present from the start.
Yoko Kanno and The Seatbelts - Cowboy Bebop O.S.T. 1: It hits a certain level of supremity that makes you wonder how this veered off the radar of your HS jazz director. But these aren’t oldies, they’re goodies, by the Japanese jazz band that claims they’re from space.
Blur - Think Tank: When you take a 90’s rock band and place a pioneer like Damon behind the wheel, you create sounds that don’t fit without a context, but in context have managed to fit in the ears of the greater public. orchestral instruments along side synths & samples, a hodgepodge of delight.
Tom Vek - We Have Sound: God gave us light, Vek gave us sound, and all by himself in his garage? yeah, I’m jealous… where’s the sequel? eh, I can wait, this title track has already occupied me for a decade.
